The Racer Collection

Designed 2016

We believe you have to make it before you can make it right. Racer is a perfect example. It was a much different chair at the start. Inspired by its pleasing profile on paper, we prototyped what we quickly realized felt too much like an outdoor chair. Our designers revisited that first sketch and reinterpreted its gentle curves as two overlapping bent plywood shells. This allowed for a more responsive seat and beautiful, almost floating forms. We then covered it in foam and fabric, creating layers of comfort. A color-coordinated powder-coated steel base made it virtually indestructible, while clever channel stitch detail kept it smartly dressed for all crowds and occasions.
