Looking at our outdoor assortment, we had a good mix of materials and textures, but none that involved a softer, more tactile element like rope. We began by sketching continuous lines which would become the frame and, as it turns out, the perfect armature for a woven back. We made a prototype and used yards of colored shoelaces to experiment with different weaving patterns. We landed on a simple pattern that both mimics and complements the powder-coated steel frame, keeping it feeling minimal, organic and endlessly comfortable.
