Comments about Blu Dot Free Range Coffee Table:

Be very cautious. This table is very attractive, i really love its really clean and simple design. Sadly, I just opened the box and started to build the table and the marble edge cracked off while in the middle of assembly. The thing is this marble edge as is is far too weak for this design. I never got as far as turning it over. I handled it with extra kid-gloves and even went as far as to tighten the bolts in a circular formation a little at a time like a car tire so one side would not get more pressure than another. As i was tightening the bolts, I noticed a crack / half moon break in the marble where the leg clamps to the thin edge. I placed a call to the Bludot store where I purchased it and we will see what they do to correct this. If they fix this I would be more than willing to take down this review. But right now I feel like I have wasted a lot of money on a bunch of parts I can't use. I am afraid a replacement will only do the same thing.

Blunt Designers**** a tapered edge would be much stronger than the machined profiled edge you are using now. Look at the Saarinen marble tops.

Comments about Blu Dot Free Range Coffee Table:

This table is extremely fragile. I had suspected this was the case when I saw someone selling a used, broken free range coffee table on craigslist (person was moving it and the marble broke) but since I loved the design I promised myself I would be more careful and went ahead and purchased it 2 months ago. Well, my cleaning person went to move the table when vacuuming and in dragging it, it must have rattled the marble and it broke, same manner as I saw on the craigslist post. While I would have been more careful in moving it myself, at the end of the day its a coffee table and its possible that cleaning people or guests or movers or others may someday need to move it and if they don't do it with kid gloves it might break. Blu Dot said that they've made some improvements since then (must have been really recent since I just purchased in April and its now June) to address this issue but didn't offer to help or charge less for the marble top replacement. My only option was to purchase a brand new table again at full price. My husband forbid me from buying it again, so I didn't, plus I don't like how Blu Dot handled it (the sales person tried to explain how its "just physics", and given how thin the marble is and how its not supported in the center of course it will of course break when dragged across carpet). This might be true so I just wanted to post this buyer beware post. Also I didn't like how the marble top is not sealed at all, I bought marble sealer and sealed it myself which is quite messy and time consuming if you want to do it the right way. Overall, not impressed with the quality or service, I would steer clear of this table.

Comments about Blu Dot Free Range Coffee Table:

We bought a floor model that had just been assembled that week by the sales staff. They stated it is very difficult to assemble, so we were lucky to get one all set up. Unfortunately, in transporting it home, we cracked two of the legs. The marble is so heavy that any moving around can compromise the legs (consider that in your own moves!) I always get my husband or one other person to help move it as pushing the table will put pressure on the legs and crack them even more. Anyway, if assembled on site and not moved, you should be ok.
