Blu Dot Classics: Modern Furniture With Staying Power

Some designs just stick. For nearly 30 years, we've been making modern furniture that's honest about how it's made, easy to live with, and a little bit surprising. Blu Dot Classics are the pieces that became unmistakably ours: the Strut table, the Field lounge chair, the Hot Mesh chair, the Chicago 8 Box. Same clean lines they started with, still built to last, still at home in rooms that look nothing alike.

What Makes a Blu Dot Classic?

A classic isn't a piece that stays the same. It's one that keeps working as the room, the house, and the person change around it. Every design in this collection has earned its spot by doing a few things well:

• It outlasts trends. Simple, purposeful forms don't go out of style because they were never chasing one.
• It does its job. Tables that seat the whole crew, storage that hides the mess, chairs you actually want to sit in.
• It mixes easily. Our classics play nicely with vintage finds, hand-me-downs, and newer Blu Dot pieces alike.
• It has a personality. A pop of color, an unexpected shape, a name like Dang or Bub. Good design doesn't have to take itself too seriously.

We call it This Century Modern™. Curious how a piece goes from sketch to your living room? Our design process walks through it.

How to Style Blu Dot Classics

• Build around one icon. Let a Field lounge chair or Chicago 8 Box set the tone, then keep the pieces around it simpler.
• Mix old and new. Classics look great next to newer Blu Dot designs and vintage finds. A Strut table with mismatched chairs just works.
• Mix materials. Pair a soft upholstered piece with steel, wood, or glass. Contrast keeps a room interesting.
• Complete the family. Many classics come in several sizes and forms. Match a Strut dining table with a Strut console, or a Dang dresser with Dang nightstands.
• Add one bold move. A bright Hot Mesh chair or a sculptural Bub pendant gives a room personality without taking it over.

Blu Dot Materials: What's the Difference?

• Metal. Powder-coated steel shows up in frames, bases, and mesh. It's slim, sturdy, and a big part of our signature look.
• Wood. Warm, natural grain on tables, storage, and beds that softens clean lines.
• Upholstery and leather. Performance fabrics, designer textiles, and leather that develops character over time.
• Glass and stone. Tabletops that keep a room feeling light and open.

Caring for Your Classics

• Metal: A soft cloth with mild soap and water is all powder-coated finishes need.
• Wood: Use coasters, wipe with a damp cloth, and dry it off. Skip harsh cleaners.
• Upholstery: Vacuum regularly, fluff and rotate cushions, and blot spills right away.
• Leather: Dust with a soft, dry cloth and keep it out of direct sunlight.
• Outdoor: Clean periodically and cover or store pieces during the off-season.

Check each product page for care instructions specific to your piece.
