Maintaining high standards.
We put every product to the test.
We are serious about the quality and safety of our products. Our team rigorously tests our designs for safety and durability, ensuring they can withstand continued use and high-traffic spaces. We also work with many highly respected 3rd party institutes and certification authorities who test our designs against their own stringent standards. Instead of acquiring a massive list of certifications, we’re focused on the ones that matter most. Every product is backed by a warranty and actual humans ready to help in case any design isn’t exactly as it should be.

We stand behind everything we make.
Our goal is to create high-quality products that are safe, ethically made and stand the test of time — ensuring every customer feels confident in their purchase and trusts our ability to get it right.
Suppliers and code of conduct.
Anyone who has a hand in making our products must prove they are able to meet our own standards, as well as those dictated by law. All our partners and suppliers must sign and adhere to our Code of Conduct, which outlines our ethical, sustainability, and quality standards. We also perform regular audits to ensure compliance. By partnering with many high-quality suppliers, we are also able to support initiatives that benefit both people and the environment.
CARE & FAIR.
Through our Denmark-based partner, we source beautiful handmade rugs that are ethically made. Their commitment to both environmental and human rights issues is best highlighted by their involvement in the CARE & FAIR Initiative, where they not only fight for human rights, but also invest in local communities and education.
Packaging testing.
All collections are tested to ISTA standards or follow an existing, proven packaging design. This helps ensure all packaging is sufficient for transit and prevents damage to the product - reducing returns and unnecessary waste.
BIFMA testing.
The Business and Institutional Furniture Manufactures Association (BIFMA) has created a set of standards for certain product categories. Each standard is comprised of a series of tests designed to simulate 10 years of heavy use. From our experience, products that pass these tests have performed exceptionally well in customers' homes and business alike. See all our BIFMA standard products. ➔ 98% of tested products pass BIFMA standards for strength and safety. ➔ 100% of applicable products are tested for BIFMA strength and safety.
Prop 65 compliant.
All our products comply with California’s Proposition 65, which requires companies to inform customers of any potential exposure to toxic chemicals in the product. Blu Dot products are free of any lead, phthalates, FR additives or other chemicals found on the Prop 65 list.
100% of our lighting designs are UL listed.
Underwriters Laboratory (UL) is a global leader in certifying the safety of lighting and electrically powered products. Our lighting products, and the factories producing them, have been tested and audited to ensure customers receive the safest product possible.
ASTM standards.
American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) is a widely recognized group that creates standards for product safety and durability. We use ASTM standards to test how your dining table will hold up against harsh chemicals, or to simulate and prevent dressers from tipping. ➔ All applicable clothing storage sold by Blu Dot is compliant with ASTM F2057-23 tip standards. ➔ All children's furniture sold by Blu Dot is compliant with all applicable child safety standards.
Intertek Clean Air Certification.
Products can negatively impact air quality when made from materials that release Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). To prevent this, we stick to tested materials. We also test our finished products with Intertek, an independent testing laboratory that sets standards to minimize the level of harmful chemicals emitted from materials. See all our Intertek certified products. ➔ We prioritize the use of non-emitting materials and fabrics in our designs. ➔ Currently 57% of our products are tested and certified Clean Air Gold or Silver. ➔ Our goal by 2027 is to ensure 85% of our products have gone through the Clean Air Gold and Silver certification process.
5-year warranty on all designs.
Our in-depth testing and high-quality standards makes it possible for us to guarantee our products against defects. To show we stand behind every design, we back all our products with a 5-year warranty.
Stellar customer service.
We want all our customers to feel heard and that their needs are met. Our in-house customer support team is at the ready to answer almost anything. They also have access to our development team so they can share feedback and get additional support, should anyone need it.
