Design Process
A person in a blue work jacket is using orange and yellow clamps to hold a vertical wood panel in place against a curved metal frame in a workshop setting.
Good design takes time, patience and often, a heap of prototypes (and people) to get it right.
Black serif text on a white background reading: 'Collaborative design is the essence of who we are. We utilize each other's strengths.'
An open sketchbook with blue line drawings of chairs on graph paper, placed on a wooden work surface surrounded by design sketches and a cutting mat. A hand holding a blue pencil is visible at the bottom right.
Ideas continue to morph into unexpected designs that are better than any one person could create.
A modern lounge chair constructed from layered, curved cardboard panels in a natural tan color, mounted on a white and light wood four-star base, photographed against a clean white background.
A man in a dark work uniform leans over a metal frame, applying a clear adhesive patch with a white and blue applicator to a beige fabric surface on the frame. The setting appears to be a workshop or studio with tools and equipment in the background.
Before you see anything from us, we’ve already seen it a hundred times. We’ve sketched it, discussed it (endlessly) and built prototypes to test its scale, proportion, feel—every inch of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the recommended maximum weight capacity for daily dining use?

The chair is designed for everyday residential dining and comfortably supports typical adult use. Performs best when used as intended and with weight evenly distributed. Tested to 275lbs.
How firm is the seat cushioning, and does it remain comfortable during long meals?

The seat features medium-firm cushioning that balances support and comfort. It’s designed to stay comfortable through extended meals and gatherings without feeling overly soft or compressing quickly over time.
Is the upholstery resistant to stains from common dining spills like wine or oil?

The upholstery is designed for everyday use but is not fully stain-proof. Prompt cleaning of spills—especially wine, oil, or sauces—helps prevent lasting marks.
How durable are the wood legs under frequent shifting or repositioning?

The solid wood legs are built for durability and hold up well under regular movement, such as pulling the chair in and out from a table. As with any wood furniture, using proper glides and avoiding excessive dragging on rough surfaces will help preserve their finish over time.
Are replacement glides or leg caps available to protect delicate flooring?

Yes, the chair includes protective glides to help prevent scratching on hard floors. Replacement glides or leg caps are typically available through the retailer or manufacturer, making it easy to maintain floor protection.
Is the chair designed to slide under most dining tables without the arms catching?

The chair’s proportions are generally compatible with standard dining table heights. However, clearance will depend on your specific table apron height and arm height of the chair. It’s a good idea to compare measurements to ensure a smooth fit.
How well does the upholstery hold up to pets, especially cats, who may scratch fabric?

The upholstery is designed for everyday durability and resists normal wear such as light pilling and fading. However, like most fabrics, it is not immune to snagging from sharp objects or pet claws. Choosing tighter weaves can improve resistance in high-use households.
Can individual chairs be purchased later to expand a matching set?

Yes, individual chairs are typically available for purchase, making it easy to add more seating over time. Availability of specific finishes or upholstery options may vary, so matching exactly is easiest when purchasing within the same production period.
