Handle with care.

We designed this stuff to be sat in, trod upon, jumped on, and weather the occasional accident—so keeping your Blu Dot in near mint condition doesn’t have to be complicated. With just a little regular upkeep and maintenance, your furniture will hold up to everything life throws at it.

No-fuss fabric.

Toddlers, red wine, and chocolate bars? Bring it. Every Blu Dot textile has been selected for its good looks, but more importantly, it’s durability and cleanability. With most upholstered furniture we recommend vacuuming, fluffing, and rotating cushions regularly. This not only keeps them looking fresh, but also helps them wear evenly. Different fabrics perform differently, but for most spills we recommend blotting (not rubbing) as much of the offending material as possible, and then following up with mild dish soap and water. Some of our performance textiles can even handle a little diluted bleach. Always test in a hidden spot first, and leave harsh chemicals or heat alone unless the tag says so.

Freak for teak?

You should be. Durable and naturally weather-resistant, Grade A solid wood teak has long been an outdoor favorite. Teak weathers to a silver-gray patina over time. How much and how quickly it changes depends on climate, exposure to the elements and level of care. The beauty of teak is that you can maintain its original color with teak sealant. We suggest Bayes Teak Cleaner and Restorer.

Like an aged grey effect? Then let nature do its thing. Note that exposure to moisture can raise the wood grain. Simply sand with fine sandpaper to smooth it out. Either way, teak will last long and look good. To keep your teak extra pretty, avoid letting water stand on surfaces, cover furniture when not in use, and store it in a dry location during periods of inclement weather and throughout winter.

Swipe right.

Our metal and plastic designs are about as easy to clean as a nonstick pan. They won’t fit in your kitchen sink, but a damp rag will do the trick. Prefer an organic spray cleaner that smells like the lavender fields of Provence? You do you. Common sense care (and specification) is always important. Store in a dry location if you reside in a place with a long, cold winter. We feel you.

Leather report.

Leather is a natural material that develops patina over time. A little care goes a long way to help it look its best. Keep leather out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to prevent fading and drying. For spills, blot immediately with a clean white cloth or paper towel—never rub or use liquids, including water, which can leave stains. Dust regularly with a dry cloth, and periodically treat with Moore & Giles Conditioner to maintain softness and suppleness. With simple, consistent care, your leather will stay beautiful and develop a rich, lasting patina for years to come.

The golden rule.

Vacuum, dust, and treat spills immediately—and your furniture will repay you with years of comfort, character, and good times. Treat it well, and it’ll treat you even better.
